A tour of some highlights of the Metro system's outdoor public art
Did you know that the Tyne and Wear Metro system has the largest collection of outdoor public art in the North East. For almost 50 years the Tyne and Wear Metro system has been host to a range of art installations, on a range of media. This walk will take you through some of the highlights of this collection, and we will discuss the development of the art collection, and the history of the Tyne and Wear Metro system.
The tour will start at Regent Centre, and will go on to Jesmond, Haymarket, Monument, and Gateshead. We will stop for a break in Gateshead, and then carry on to Jarrow. We will return via Heworth to Newcastle Central Station, finishing around 2.30.
