PRESIDENT’S EVENING

The President cordially invites members to a social evening

at: St Nicholas Cathedral in Newcastle

In 1882 Newcastle was given city status and the medieval parish church of St  Nicholas became the seat of the Bishopric when it was granted Cathedral status.
Refitting was necessary. The architect for the work was R. J. Johnson, the contract for the woodcarving was won by Ralph Hedley, the stonework executed by Robert Beall and the reredos sculpted by J.S.Westmacott.
